Stuart Lubwama, a secondary school teacher has formally submitted his nomination forms to the National Unity Platform electoral commission to seeking to get the party ticket as Entebbe Municipality Member of Parliament.
Lubwama, a vocal advocate for the residents of Entebbe, argues that the municipality is in urgent need of robust parliamentary representation.
"Entebbe deserves a powerful, dedicated voice in Parliament, one that truly represents the
aspirations and challenges of its people," Lubwama said.
"My vision is clear: to ensure our community thrives and that every citizen has
the opportunity to prosper."
He seeks to unseat the incumbent, Michael Kakembo.
Lubwama's campaign is centred around addressing pressing issues within Entebbe Municipality.
"Our youth and women are the backbone of our society. We must create avenues for their education, skills development, and economic independence," he explained after nomination.
Lubwama says that environmental protection also features prominently in his priorities, acknowledging
Entebbe's unique lakeside geography.
"The beauty and ecological balance of Entebbe are precious. We must implement robust measures to protect our environment, particularly Lake Victoria, for future generations."
The secondary school teacher says he intends to establish " efficient working systems" for service
delivery, to ensure public services are accessible, accountable, and effective for residents.
This includes a sharp focus on revitalising the education sector, which he identifies as a cornerstone of progress.
"Quality education is not a privilege; it’s a right. We need to invest in our schools and provide our children with the best possible learning environment," Lubwama said.
He has also pledged to confront the pervasive issue of land grabbing that has affected numerous communities, vowing to work towards restoring justice and securing land tenure for owners.
"Lake Victoria is a source of livelihood for so many in Entebbe and therefore, we must protect it from illegal activities and ensure fair access for our local fishermen and traders," he added.
The secondary school teacher will however face competition from Robert Masaazi, Lilian Babirye and Joyce Nabatta for the opposition NUP card.
